How can I take the random sample of cities in the US?

I tried zip codes but it does not work...

Go to any site on world populations (do a Google search) - they probably have a list of US cities - put the list in Excel and then sort it in random order. If your sample size needs to be 50, for example, then take the top 50 in the sorted list.
