View Full Version : lognormal distributions for classified income data

i got a big problem that i need to solve for my masterthesis in sociology :shakehead...

i have household income data that (classified) and I need to convert this in the income per person living in household...

i was told that i can transform the classes into metric units via the lognormaldistribution - which is much better than to take the middle of the classes...

the problem is i don't understand how.. it should work with excel...

maybe someone can do me, as a statistics dummy, a very big favour and calculate this for me (attachment)?

example: i have a income class from 0 to 12.000 and i need a single value like 10.000 that stands for the whole class

thank u very much
