Hi guys..could do with a bit of help on some stats..
I've observed 4 species of birds and recorded probes into sediment within a 2 minute period and the number of these probes that were successful (i.e when prey was caught). So I have approximately 40 odd data for each bird species, with numbers of probes and number of prey capture for each individual.
My hypothesis is that the larger birds have a slower probe rate (less per 2 minute period) than the smaller species..

Could anyone suggest which statistical method would be most suitable/effective because I'm a bit stumped!

Cheers :)

You've got count data here. So, the natural statistical technique to analyse such data is to use Poisson Regression Models.

Cheers led..not a technique I've come across but will take a look at it! :)
Our teacher suggested ANOVA, but I'm not exactly sure how this would be implemented/how effective it would be?

One thing you've to do is, how would you define bird as being large and small?
