Hello,

Does anyone know if the probability of intersection of A and B can be BIGGER than the multiplication of the probability of A with the probability of B -->

P(A & B) > P(A)*P(B) ?

I will appreciate any help,

Roni

Since P(A) and P(B) can each be no larger than 1, then the largest possible product is 1, so the answer is "no."

Imagine a Venn Diagram, with event A and event B each represented by a circle - the intersection of these circles cannot be any bigger than the larger of the two.
