I am pretty new to statistics and I keep making silly mistakes with the rounding rules.
I have been asked to round a few numbers off to 2 decimal places.
Can someone tell me if I have done it right

1) 2.586 = 2.60 ?
2) 2.555 = 2.56 ?
3) 65. 375 = 65.38 ?

all these 5's keep confusing me :(

thanks!

1) 2.59
2) 2.56
3) 65.38

if 5 or more round up, below five round down - generally. Exceptions apply depending on the disipline and special circustances. This is how I was taught it in undergrad math.

The rule we have been told is, 'when rounding 5's round to the nearest even digit'
so both 1.65 and 1.55 = 1.6 ...

this is whats confusing me about 2.586 !
