Hi everyone ,
I am conducting a research in linguistics trying to explore what goes in students ' minds when they read. My sample consists of 150 students. My tools are mainly questionnaire and interview .The questionnaire consists of 15 CLOSED questions that are asked before reading the text and then 30 questions (15 OPEN 15 CLOSED) after reading the text. The problem is that each subgroup of five students read a different text but it lies under the category of certain writings. Can I generalize the analysis of responses over the 150 students since the text itself is not the focus ? Do you think I have to use statistical methods more than frequencies and descriptive analysis of the results depending on percentage of agreement and disagreement? If you have any other comments please let me know .Thanks in advance for your help

Since your study is exploratory in nature, feel free to report on anything interesting you discover or conduct any statistical analysis you feel will provide enlightening information, since the purpose of exploratory research is to form hypotheses for further study.

I would try to look for overall, general findings, and also see if there are any interesting differences between / among the subgroups.
