    Validity

Ok, I hope you guys can help me again. Last time you were a BIG help. I feel like this is a stupid question, but I am just not getting it.
What in the heck is criterion validity on a test to select employees and how do I test for it? My book does not explain this in English. The book states that "criterion validity refers to the extent to which a test score is related to some measure of job performance called a criterion." Is this the same as stating, for example, that the WAISIII has criterion validity because it is correlated with another test that was already found to be valid?

I googled the term and found the Wikipedia entry below:

"For example, let us say we are conducting a study on success in college. If we find out there is a high correlation between student grades in high-school math classes and their success in college (which can be measured by many possible variables), we would say there is high criterion-related validity between the intermediate variable (grades in high-school math classes) and the ultimate variable (success in college). "

It seems that you need to find the correlation coefficient. Hope it helps.
