Hi, what you said is really helpful, but is there a version for calculating the overlapping area of two 2-D gaussians? Thanks! My email is jessicabloom AT me.com

Wow an old thread bumps up again.

If anyone insist to find the overlapping area under the curve of two different pdfs f_1, f_2 , then you are just calculating

    \int_{-\infty}^{+\infty} \min\{f_1(x), f_2(x)\} dx

and you are merely comparing the pdfs and do the integration in a piecewise fashion.

    Dear geometer,

Your post is very interesting and clear and I am interested in this problem. Can you send me the equation so I too can set it up in Excel? Thanks in advance. My e-mail is: daviddolidze@icloud.com

    Regards,
    David
