    Question Error message

    Hello Everyone,

I'm working with AMOS 18 and SPSS 17.0.
It's showing me some message saying "An error accured while trying to write
the completed data file. (PASW Statistics error number10.)" everytime I try to
Impute Data to use it later for a CFA.
Could you please tell me what is the meaninig of the message and what to do to
    solve it.

    Thanks in advance

    Olfa

    Re: Error message

    Hi there,

"An error accured while trying to write the completed data file. (PASW Statistics error number10.)"

I've been looking for an answer to the same question as you (below) did you ever find an answer?

I did come across this this error report in the SPSS Knowledge Base. Perhaps it will give some clues.

Problem Description: I am attempting to use the "Analyze->Data Imputation" option in AMOS. When I clicked the Impute button, a dialog box appeared with the message: "An error occurred while trying to write the completed data file - error 13". I have insured that all of the variable names are 8 characters are less and that the latent variable names are also valid SPSS variable names, as described in Resolution 68613. However, I still receive this error message when I try to impute. Are there additional requirements invovlving the original data file?

    Resolution Description:
The error is likely triggered by the presence of a variable called CaseNo or a variable called Imputation_ in the input data file. (CaseNo would be the more common occurrence, as the presence of a variable called Imputation_ would generally occur if the data file already contained imputed data.) During imputation, Amos tries to add new variables called CaseNo and Imputation_.

A workaround is to rename CaseNo in the original data file, or remove it from the original data file. For example, you could open the data file in SPSS/PASW Statistics and change the variable name CaseNo to Case_Seq, save the file to a new name, and the use the new data file, with Case_Seq, as the input data file for AMOS.

A program defect has been filed with AMOS Development to ask that AMOS check for variables, especially CaseNo and Imputation_, in the input data set which match those created by the imputation. These variables would be listed in the warning to alert the user to the steps that need to be taken.
