    Percentages

    Hello,

    I am quite new in statistics so sorry if my question is not clear enough.

    After creating a structure in excel i ended up with a column with different numbers such as 10,50,200,150 etc.
    The higher the number the better.

    However i want to translate these numbers into percentages. For example 200 is 100%. What percentage do the rest of the numbers represent.

    Thanks in advance.

    Just divide everything by 2 and that will give you what you're thinking of as a percent.

    If 200 is 100% -> 200/2 = 100.
    so 100/2 = 50 -> 100 is 50%

    Re: Percentages

    But what if I have numbers greater than 200. Then if I devide by 2 i'll get a percentage >100%.

    Is there a formula I can use to convert numbers to percentages based on how many numbers I have and if they are greater than >200?

    Re: Percentages

    If X is the largest number in the series then divide all numbers by X and multiply by 100.

    E.g., X = 351.6, so this is 100x351.6/351.6 = 100%
    Then, 2 would be 100x2/351.6=0.57%

    While you're at it, bone up on Significant Figures and Scientific Notation.
