Hello friends,
I'am doing intermediate statistics for second year and I'am having some issues with this chapter. My professor told me that I only need these tests for my midterm tomorrow:
Goodness of Fitness Test
The Sign Test
The Sign Test: Normal Approximation (Large Samples)
Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (Statistics T)
I have done some questions that he had hand picked and my answers appear wrong in the back of the book. I have attatched the scanned page, containing the questions:
http://www.2shared.com/document/Rxqx...14sec1015.html
http://www.2shared.com/document/JTIR...ter14sec2.html
The second link would appear upside down. Sorry for that
The questions that I did where 14.22, 14.24, 14.25, 14.26 and 14.30.
For 14.22, I just used sign test and the answered appeared to be rejecting null hypotheses exceeding 1.18% while my answer was 1.08%, so I guess its either a typo on the book or an approximation.
for 14.24, The answer behind was given as exceeding 22.28%. However I used sign test and given the data:
11 = total
7 = yes
4 = no
probability = 0.5
Probability function of Binomial Distribution Table:
.1611
which when multiplied by 2, gives 0.3222 which is 32%.
for 14.26, the data is like this:
130 = total number
44 = (+)
68 = (-)
18 = (0)
Mean = 112(0.5)
= 56
Standard deviantion = 5.29
44.5-56/5.29 = -2.174
table value = 0.015
0.015 x 2 = 0.03% = 3% (given as 0.30 percent in the answer)
For 14.25,
n = 60
+ = 39
- = 18
none = 3
mean = (18+39)(0.5)
=28.5
standard deviation = sqrt(28.5(0.5))
= 3.77
Z = 38.5-28.5/3.77
= 2.65
table = (0.004)
0.004 x 2
= 0.008.
or 0.8%
I don't know whether this is correct or not.
For 14.30,
standard deviation = (8x8)(8+8+1)/12
= 90.66
Z= 66-68/40.66
= 0.0220
= 0.008
Answer is: Do not reject Null Hypothesis at any common level of Alpha.
Please tell me what went wrong in these questions
