Senior Design Project Data Analysis HELP!!!

Ok so here is the deal,

I am a senior Biomedical Engineering student working on a design project and our professor wants some sort of data analysis method. I did alright in Stats for Engineers but application of it is a little rough for me.

We are using magnetic detection and get a series of values as the length between the sensor and the magnet changes.

For example, at 3 inches the value is 800.
at 4 inches the value is 900.
at .5 inches the value is 500. and so on.

The values that are recorded do not vary from test to test as long as the magnet is perpendicular to the sensor. If this is any way confusing I can try and clarify. Basically, the goal of the analysis is to prove that the readings are consistent and reliable from test to test. Do I need to incorporate the readings that are received when the sensor and the magnet are not perpendicular to each other? Any imput will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You will need some kind of model to well, model your data. You could then see how large the measurement error is with respect to the model. My physics is a bit rusty so I'm not sure which equation you should use. From your numbers it seems like the relationship might be linear with a relatively large error, though it's not really possible to tell based on such a small sample size.
