    Significance Test for Nomial Data

    Hi,
I need to analyse responses from a questionnaire - the responses to be compared are from scale questions (responses 1 - 5 strongly disagree to strongly agree) which have been coded to become nominal agree/disagree.

I need to compare the results of a sub section of the data to that of the whole population. For example, one particular department (percentage of people who agree) versus the whole organisation (percentage of people who agree).

What significance test would be best to use?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
    Sharon

I'd just set up a 2x2 table and calculate an OR or p-value from it. Please look into contingency tables.
