# Thread: 95% confidence intervals for linear regression in excel?

1. ## 95% confidence intervals for linear regression in excel?

Hi, I am currently trying to analyse data for my lab experiment and I am having trouble trying to find how to plot individual confidence intervals for my points as I don't have any replicates and we (university class) were told to use the equation B=plus/minus t*s, but as there is no spread of replicate values, I can't see how this is possible... Or is there a way to plot where 95 percent confidence intervals should fall relative to the trend line? Because I tried doing that too, but the intervals were huge and that seemed too big for it to be correct for my two data sets (attached)

Since you were asked to do a linear regression, i would expect your teacher was interested in the confidence interval of the slope and/or the intercept. These interval bounds are printed as "lower 95%" and "upper 95%" by excels Linreg function.
Uncertainty about your data points would be measurement errors, and should depend on your skill or the instrument you used to measure them.
