Need help w/ data chart in excel for correlation? (it might be an easy question?)

    Hi,

I was looking for some help and came across this forum. I basically was wondering how I could chart some correlative charts. For example, when I hear about the unemployment and non farm jobs, I was wondering how I could combine these two charts.

For example, i wanted a bar chart for payrolls and a line chart over it w/ unemployment rate.

    Something like this:

In fact, I have to compile a mini project regarding economic data. Any ideas? I have the data set, if that matters.

    Thank you.
    Sorry if it's confusing.

My experience of excel (2003 for windows and 2008 for mac) is that the charting functions are very limited and it would be difficult/impossible to produce that sort of plot. That sort of plot is definitely possible in R - but R is quite tricky to learn but if you're doing a project it may be well worth the effort. R is also open source and free. I've been using it for about 4 months and once you get over the initial learning curve it's incredibly powerful. There are lots of R users who are very proficient on this site and if you get stuck there are some real experts that can help you out.

That said you might still be able to do it in Excel, it's just that I've struggled in the past...
