Installation of R under LINUX PLATFORM

Hi all,
I was using R under windows OS till now, Now I had shifted to LINUX platform. Can you instruct me on the installation of R in LIUNX. I had tried installing, but there was an error message "F77 compiler and F2C not found". Where can I find F77 compiler for linux platform.

I am new to Linux but have recently installed Ubuntu Linux Feisty Fawn (7.04) and was able to easily install the R 2.5.0 binary package using the instructions at:

http://www.stats.bris.ac.uk/R/bin/linux/ubuntu/README

Can you give the environment of your Linux platform?

If computer told you same information as you wrote, "F77 Compiler" can download from a FTP, and install it on your computer. There will be some little difference in different Linux platform.
