In a meta-analysis looking at the impact of age on the incidence of an adverse outcome following treatment for "X", which effect sizes and statistical methods would be best to assess this relationship? What if I were to also compare the effect of different operative approaches (for the same treatment type) on the incidence rates? (I expect that mainly cohort studies will be available to include in the meta-analysis.)
