I understand the concept of the Pareto Distribution and that it is a heavy tailed distribution. However, I would like to generate Pareto distributed traffic. So my traffic generator asks for a shape and location parameter. How do I know given these what the average traffic will be? For instance if I want to generate 1MBytes per second, how will I know what location and shape parameter to use?
