Looking for help! which software to use??

    Hi Guys,

I have a small amount of experience using SPSS and am currently using this for some work on statistical analysis of sports injuries in a sports team. I collect data about injuries including variables such as body part, type of injury and so on.

I have been looking for an easier way of inputting the data and came across SPSS data input builder which looks like it builds a questionaire type page with tick boxes etc. This is exactly what i am looking for so that other people can easily in put the data for me, although the price has put me off.

Is the any other software that anyone recommends for such a project? preferably free if possible?

The analysis of the data is basic, just frequencies, means etc.

Any help or suggestions would be a great help!

    Thanks

    Adam

R is the best bet in my biased opinon. However, if you are unsure about which pacakge to use, most major packages offer a thrity day trial. I personnally prefer systat over spss, but other options include statistica, stata etc...

If I had to recommend something other than R I guess I would go with JMP.

if you're looking for a software that can not only do statistical analyses but also have this kind of data-input extensions, i think SPSS is probably the only option. however, i'm almost sure i've heard that google lets you build surveys online and captures the data for you in some sort of .csv file. i've never had the need to use it but i'm almost sure it can be done...
