If you have a respondent who is 40 years old and you know theFor b), what confuses me is how do I set the standard deviation of 3.4 years in SPSS? Or am I thinking this question out incorrectly? Much thanks if you can guide me with SPSS!!
polulation mean is 34.7 and population SD is 3.4 then you can
easily calculate by hand which z-score corresponds to 40 years
of age. Since you have 20 cases, it can also be done using the
COMPUTE command.
With kind regards
K.
