i'm studying film life cycle using the weibull distribution. given the survival function, there exists the hazard rate, or the failure rate, a point at the slope which is located after the peak (somewhere to the right side of the mean; downward sloping).

my question is: is there a rate that exists opposite the hazard rate? a rate that would describe the slope prior to the peak (left side of the mean; upward sloping)?

thanks very much,
