Please Help Me- Point Estimates of Variance & Standard Deviance of Population.

Can someone please help me with this problem?

    (1) You have taken two samples. The scores in the first sample are 1,5,9. The scores in the second sample are 5, 13, 9. Compute SSw, n-k, MSw, and s.

I think I know how to compute everything except for SSw, I don't understand how to figure out what X (mu) is.I usually make a little chart to solve everything, the first column is normally the sample list (1,5,9) the second is mu, the third is the Sample mean, etc. I don't know how I can solve this problem without figuring out mu.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
