Help please, relationship between two variables

I posted my problem a few days ago and didn't receive any answer.. I have to prepare a poster and it becomes urgent! here is (again) my problem:

I can't find a way to check if a relationship between two variables depends on a third variable. More specifically, for each subject (n=28) I have two continuous variables (heard rate and estimation of speech rate), and I want to check if the relationship between speech rate and estimation depends on a third continuous variable, the subject's own rate.
I am wondering if there is a way to conduct regression between rate and estimation, controlling own rate, but I don't know how to do it.

I am using Statview, but I can have access to SPSS.

    thanks in advance!

If you Google concepts such as:

mediator moderator and modifier variables in regression

it may point you to references that can help your specific situation.
