Does using a prospective data set make a clinical study prospective.

I haven't been able to find this out anywhere. I am writing a systematic review on radiation therapy toxicity and dividing works by prospective vs. retrospective. One work mentions using a prospective data set for the study but I could make an argument either way for the study itself being retro or prospective.

Any input would be much appreciated.

    Work in question: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14697421

This was caught by the spam filter - this post is to bump the thread.
I don't have emotions and sometimes that makes me very sad.

They retrospectively accessed prospective data and they report incidences. I would treat it as prospective data in the meta-analysis.

This all depends on why you are dichotomizing the studies into two groups in the first place.
