Wich margin of non-inferiority to pick?

    Hi everyone,

I have been thinking about this quite long:

Event rate of death in particular sick population is 22%

Treatment A has a relative risk to placebo at 0,4 (95% CI 0,18-0,9)

If I want to perform a non-inferiority trial what margin of non-inferiority should I use?

    hi,

I just solved the problem, so if anyone needs the solution - read FDA recomendations for noninferiority clinical trials
    http://www.google.sk/url?sa=t&rct=j&...66330100,d.ZGU

basically take relative risk - in this case 0,4, that means risk reduction of 60% (appropriate CI is 10% - 82%), take the lower CI of risk reduction and use 50% of it, so in this case margin of non-inferiority will be 5%.
