If someone could please help. I got the first part of question correct, but cannot figure out how to calculate the second part of the question.

The second part, that I need help with, reads:

Well, there may be a couple of possible answers. For starters, you have to take the probability of you surviving until next year into account, for example. Second, your geographical location affects the probability of dying from a tornado. If you live in a place which more rarely experience tornados than other places, the probability for you to die in a tornado is much less.

3. ## Re: Probability Math Homework

Correct - but it doesn't need to be down to something that specific. I am just wondering what formula I would use to find out the specifics as far as what are the odds that I would die in a tornado. I know that the previous answer in question 1 to find the probability of a random American was to take 553/312000000 and you come up with the answer of .00000177243. Now, to find out what the probability of me dying, would you take 1/553 which gives you .00180831826 and multiply that by .00000177243 which would give you 0.00000000320511754? Is that the correct way to calculate it, or I am I completely off here?
