    Analysing a rank order

    Hi all,
I am a doctor who have absolutely close to 0 knowledge about statistics.

    Here is my problem,
Imagine a situation where 1000 students from 5 faculties face an exam and all the students are ranked according to their marks from 1 - 1000.

What kind of analytical tests can be used to compare the faculties? I know a bit of SPSS and used the explore function to plot a graph, which turned out to be a little informative.

really appreciate your help on this.

    Thanks!

For multiple groups and a dependent variable consisting of ranks
    a Kruskal-Wallis H-test could be a candidate.

    With kind regards
