Post How to transform non-normal variable to normal distrubtion ?

    Hello
    Good morning,

Can you please give me a way to transform non-normal variable in SPSS to normal distributions?

We try LG10(DATA) as well as LN(DATA) and output still not normal.

Given that histogram there is no transformation that will make it normal. It appears to be bimodal.

Why do you need it to be normal? There are many nonparametric statistics out there that can be used in lieu of traditional parametric procedures.

If my graph looks like normal distributions but when I calculate the skewness /SE it give me -2,-4,-5 thats mean what ?
I use this method after I run factor analysis, what should I do ?!

What should you do about what? What are you trying to do?

Re: How to transform non-normal variable to normal distrubtion ?

Ok I check out your topic about asking a good question , Ok my problem is I used smartPLS at first when I though my data is not normal , after I show my graphs to my professor in college using SPSS, he told me my data is normal distributions and I should use SPSS in this case. anyway I was using both and sample size = 211 , 4 dependent variables , 15 independent variables.

The Question is since I show my professor the graphs and he told me all my data is normal except one variable which is not normal, anyway I went over this variable and try to convert it to normal using LN,LG,SQRT but I wasn't successful and still not normal. The method here I used is Skweness / SE and then check the value if it is reside -1.96 or +1.96

After that I went checking all the variables I found they are not normal using this method of division skweness/SE
Is there a way to convert my one variable to normal ? if not is there another number I can get from any analysis will show if my data normal or not maybe skweness not reliable method !
