Multiple choice preference experiments, analysis by Lockwood 1998 Oecoligia 116: 475-

Anyone familiar with Lockwood's method for multiple choice significance tests using modified Hotelling T2? I'm stuck on trying to understand his calculation of confidence intervals built around differences in pairwise comparisons. What is vector a ?

I am trying to use this analysis, but i have difficulties in the calculation of pairwise comparison. I have some questions, which parameters are used in the matrix of planned contrasts? and is it possbile perform this kind of matrix in a excel file? Or suggestion where I could be find useful information to perform this analysis?
