I am looking to compare weighted estimates (counts and proportions) of people with disabilities from the National Health Interview Survey, Current Population Survey, American Community Survey, and Survey of Income and Program Participation.

The surveys use the exact same questions to identify people with disabilities - we are discussing whether or not to age-adjust the weighted estimates to make them more comparable. Conceptually, I'm not sure this makes sense.

Should we be standardizing weighted estimates?

Does anyone have any expertise in this area? Or could they direct me to any literature they know of?
