    effect size and statistical significance

Dear forum- this is my first post. I'm a teacher, looking to create a spreadsheet which calculates the effect size, and statistic significance of data. It'll primarily be used to decide whether:
    a) the students showed worthwhile improvement (effect size of above 0.4) - where the effect size formula is average of means divided by the average of the standard deviations
    b) that there was no chance of this happening by chance (statistical significance less than 0.05) - I have used the 2 tailed T test.

I've completed the spreadsheet but wondering if someone can have a look at the formulas and make sure they make sense. I'm not a mathematician, but read up on the formulas and had a crack - it seems to be working properly to my untrained eye. Any help much appreciated, but please keep in mind i'm not a statistician, and just want to ensure it will serve the purpose that I'm looking to use it for.
    Cheers,
    Mark

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this? It's my first post.
