    Confidence intervals in population-based study?




    Hello everyone,
    I have a question that might be quite simple. I'm planning a population-based study with very basic statistical analyses (mostly proportions). My question though is if it actually makes sense to calculate confidence intervals in a population-based study? My thoughts were this: as confidence intervals are used to improve the estimation of a population parameter, you don't need confidence intervals in a population-based study because you already know the true parameter. I thought it might be enough to mention the number of cases.

    Yes, if you have the full population, you don't have to be 95% confident - since you have everyone. The value is the true value.
