1. ## Football (Soccer) Probability

I am having some difficulty in understanding some information that I have been sent.

I have been given the following information about two football (soccer) teams:

Team A
Games Played: 8
Games where no goal has been scored at half-time: 3 (37.5%)
Games where 1 or more goals has been scored at half-time: 5 (62.5%)
Games where no goal has been scored at full-time: 2 (25.0%)
Games where 1 or more goals has been scored at full-time: 6 (75.0%)

Team B
Games Played: 7
Games where no goal has been scored at half-time: 0 (0.0%)
Games where 1 or more goals has been scored at half-time: 7 (100.0%)
Games where no goal has been scored at full-time: 0 (0.0%)
Games where 1 or more goals has been scored at full-time: 7 (100.0%)

Teams A and B are about to play each other and I have been given the following information.

Probability of:
1) Team A scoring in the first half: 12.50%
2) Team B scoring in the first half: 57.14%
3) Probability of 1 more goals being scored in the first half: 62.50%

I'm struggling to understand these values [1, 2 and 3 above].

Can anyone enlighten me and explain the calculations?

Do I take it that no-one else understands how values 1, 2 and 3 were arrived at?

AyF = 3/4 (6 of 8)
ByF = 1 (7 of 7)

ByH/ByF = 1
ByS/ByF = 0

AyH/AyF = 062/3/4 = 0.82
AyS/AyF = 038/3/4 = 0.51

AynF = 1/4
BynF = 0

with S i mean the second half, wiht H the first half, F full time
F = H u S (mutually exclusive)
AyF = AyH v AyS (also mutually exclusive)
maybe the data about nF was not complete? i posted this cos perhaps your results are similar
