    Hypothesis topic-URGENT

    Hi,

I am struggling with my Statistics Course (college level). I was able to get through it, but I am at my Final Project.

I need help choosing a hypothesis (null and alt), and also choosing which test to run once I choose it.

I have a data set of municipal fire budgets that includes the cities/towns in my state, their overall budget, the fire department (FD) budget, the percentage of the FD budget on the overall budget, the population of each city/town, and the ratio of firefighters (FF) to residents, (per every 1000 residents) and the per capita income for the city or town. I have this data for approximately 200 cities/towns in the state of MA. I have attached the file to this post in .xls format.

With all of this data, I know there is a good topic for a hypothesis. My original one was too vague, and I need to redo it. I am in a time crunch as this is due within 24 hours.

Anyone have an idea for a hypothesis, and which type of test to use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Lizard

What is your research question? What do you want to investigate?
I don't have emotions and sometimes that makes me very sad.

I need to figure out what to research. Its my choice. With all that data, there has to be a good statistical analysis in there.

That is my struggle--I can't figure out what, and which test to use.

Requirements are to pick any type of data, form a hypothesis, and use a statistical test to work it. The data I have already compiled. I guess I am thinking along the lines of trying to see if there is a relationship between any of the variables, such as higher populations=higher budget, etc. Anything really.
