    Standard Dev Question

Hey guys! Could you guys help with these questions?
1.Which of the two histograms has the larger mean? Explain?
2.Which of the two histograms has the larger standard deviation?Explain?

I think the first one is histogram A since the range of the histogram is all positive values. But I have no idea for the second one

It's difficult to see the values on the x and y axes. But think of standard deviation as the amount of "dispersion" in a data set. A small standard deviation: data points are "close" to the mean.

    Re: Standard Dev Question

Sorry about the poor quality. Here are some better pictures. Thanks for that Buckeye. So does that mean the answer for question 2 would be histogram A since it has a smaller range thus data points closer to the mean? I don't understand how to derive the sd from a histogram.

Yes, Histogram A has the smaller SD
