Lightbulb Need help with data for regression analysis

I have extracted the following values from Draper and Smith (1998) for independent variable X, dependent variable Y for regression analysis:

    Weeks Chlorine
    (since (Percent
    production) available)
    (X) (Y)

    8 0.49

Are these values fine to work with since there are repetitions in X?

You have to do a better job describing these data. What exactly is X and Y. Please define them with more detail.

Re: Need help with data for regression analysis

    Hey

I'd like to know the answer to this question because I have a similar situation with some data.

In my case, it's because I have measured the DV in different conditions in a within subject design, so I have the data in the long narrow format:
    Subject condition (X) (Y)
    1 1 8 0.49
    1 2 8 0.49
    1 3 8 0.47
    2 1 10 0.47
    2 2 10 0.48
    2 3 10 0.47
    etc,

In my case I'd like to perform regression as well, but I don't know if it's valid or how either because of the repetitions of X ^ ^ U... And because I want to include the conditions we have manipulated in the regression analyses. I think I have to dummy code it , but will that be enough for the software to accept it? I think I can or I should include the interaction between the categorical vv condition and the continuous IV X... Would it be enough if I code the conditions as 1 and -1 and multiply them with X? And what happens if the conditions are within subject?
