I'm new here. I have got the following problem:
- my dependent variable is dichotomous: male / female
- my independent variable: how frequent a particular event occurs (often 0 times)
male proband: proband 1: 23; proband 2: 0; proband 3: 16; proband 4: 0
female proband: proband 1: 55; proband 2: 0; proband 3: 0; proband 4: 17
Explanation: Proband 1 had the particular event 23 times but proband 2 just 0 times. Die number of subjects is 80 (40 male, 40 female).
So I thought to calculate the following things in SPSS: odds ratio (with Binary Logistic Regression) and Pearson's chi-squared test.
So I have two questions:
1. are those two tests statically admissible (especially because of many 0 values)
2. should I run a separate Pearson's chi-squared test with SPSS or is the p-value from the Wald chi-squared statistics that I get in the last table from the Binary Logistic Regression enough.
Thank you so much in advance for your help.
