    How do i add 5 spss freq count tables together?




    Please can anyone help?

    I use spss (DOS version) and need to add five variables together. THey are all the same and contain the same values. When I run frequency counts i get five lots of data output and i want to add it all together but am having to do it manually. PLease can anyone advise?

    If I understand your question, go to File -> New Syntax, and type something like:
    COMPUTE sumof5 = sum(var0001 to var0005).
    EXECUTE.

    except that you will use your actual variable names. Then run the syntax. It will create the new variable that is the sum of the other five.

    Actually, I think you mean something else, in which case I would just copy and paste the columns into one big column, then do Frequencies on that single column.
