Why don't you grab a deck of cards and do it?
I have tried to solve these questions but I can't seem to figure out how they are solved ... Any help would be appreciated . Thanks
Take 20 cards out of a regular deck of playing cards. Examine the 20 cards. This will be referred to as your POPULATION. (Face cards=10, aces=1, other cards are the face value)
CALCULATE THE MEAN of the POPULATION of 20 cards by adding the face value of the 20 cards and dividing by 20 (the number of cards). Enter the mean here (hint: it should be a number between 0 and 10)
Now, randomly select a SAMPLE of size n=1 from the POPULATION
i.e. draw one card from the POPULATION of 20 cards
RECORD THE MEAN for this sample here: (with a sample size of 1, the face value of the selected card is equal to the mean of the sample. The number should be between 1 and 10.
