I need some advice (and note, I am NOT a stats pro, excel yes, but have only used SPSS and R once)
Short story is, I have done a vegetation survey on a gecko tree shelter sites.
There are 20 shelter tree sites in each grid. Each shelter tree is I.D. as A(transect line) 0(distance x15m). So A0, A15, A30, A45, B0, B15, B30 etc. (So 20 of these).
Each shelter tree plot was divided into 25 sub-plots.
There were 8 categories to "tick" for vegetation cover:
- Bareground
- Leaf Litter
- Herbs/Grass
- Ferns
- Flax
- Muehlenbeckia
- Other Shrubs
- Tree Trunk
And you ranked each one as:
0 = 0 cover of total plot
1 = 1-25% cover
2 = 26 - 50% cover
3 = 51 - 75% cover
4 = 76 - 100% cover
EXAMPLE:
--------- Bareground
--------- 0 1 2 3 4 (Times occurred e.g. category 1 occurred in A0 9 times)
A0 ---- 7 9 5 3 1
A15 -- 10 11 2 2 0
etc
Can someone please suggest wasy to analyse and present this data?! Is there an easy way to combine more of this data together? As currently I can only analyse as a table, or do graphs for each vegetation category but this is just too many tables for my report!
Any suggestions most welcome
And please don't patronise me or anything for not knowing any better, I am genuinly asking for help.
