I also don't like it and don't see myself using it anytime soon (the gg-family being the obvious exception because ggplot makes things SUPA PRETTY).

For better or worse, though, the reason I don't use the tidyverse is the same as for why I don't use RStudio: I just never "grew up" in R using them so the few times I've tried them makes it look super alien and cumbersome to me.

I like dplyr and tidyr for analysis...for programming they're a *****...mostly because the API is constantly changing. You can't make data science pipelines with an unstable API.
