Bringing Own Laptop for Work

#1
I have a desktop at work, but it does not have all the software I need. For example, it does not have photoshop and other editing software I need. I asked my boss and she said, it is not a problem to bring my laptop. Is there a downside to this for me? Does this mean our IT will be able to see whats in my personal laptop?

That mostly depends on how you're connecting to the network and all that. For the most part they won't just be able to look through your file system or anything like that without you knowing but if you're on their network they could monitor your internet traffic.

They might require your computer to pass some security requirements before they let you access the network.

I would say that thats a given.

If you do get it connected, yes, essentially your personal info will be part of the system. So if it for work, why dont you have all the software you need? This is an issue in itself I think.
