Hello,

I have these data:

X | Y |X+Y|
1 | 2 |
3 | 4 |
2 | 6 |
- | - | 12
- | - | 18
- | - | 22
7 | 4 |
6 | 5 |
8 | 3 |
9 | 1 |
How to calculate the missing values of X and Y if we know their sum?

Thank you very much.

Hi,
The actual data are time series representing monthly new registered guests in a hotel (X=native guests and Y=foreigner guests). Data include 5-year period, but for the third year I have only the total of both variables. So my question is: How can I calculate X and Y on the base of total?

:) basically, you can't. You could use some kind of inputation on the X and Y series, but given the amount of missing values, I would not trust the values too much.
