again questions where nobody has an idea, (or don't want to answer?)

I want to work with orthogonal contrasts, also called a priori contrasts or planned comparisons, this means before ANOVA, I have an idea where or what the differnences between the treatments might be. For example (Group 1 + Group 2) < (Group 3 + Group 4) = (0.5 0.5 -0.5 -0.5) or Control vs. 3 Experimental groups: (3,-1,-1,-1).
In my case I have measurement data, 6 different traetments, my hypothesis is that 1>2>3>4>5>6. My contrast would then be (-5 -3 -1 1 3 5). Or not???

Second question: I found two SAS macros (%simtests and %simintervals) calculating all-pair contrasts or whatever you want (in: Westfall, P. H., Tobias, R. D., Rom, D., Wolfinger, R. D., Hochberg, Y. (1999): Multiple Comparisons and Multiple Tests Using the SAS System.)
Are this still apriori contrasts or is it something else (they work with a closed testing procedure,p values are adjusted for multiplicity, etc etc, but ANOVA is missing).
