I used SPSS for a factor analysis and I have two questions about some of the statistics that were generated. First, there is a stat called h2 (it varies from .81 to .56 over 20 test items) and I was wondering what this meant. Second, the factor analysis output table provides an "alpha statistic" for each of the three factors that were isolated for 8, 6, and 6 items, respectively, of .94, .90, and .84. I assume that these figures refer to reliability, but I've never heard of this reliability described as an alpha statistic before. Is that what it is, reliability? Thanks a lot.
