find central tendency

The following table presents frequency distribution of teachers of 1 year:

Rank Frequency
Professor 32511
Assoc Professor 28570
Asst Professor 59277
Instructor 14289
Others 3276

1)find mean, median and mode.
2)which is better measure of Central tendency: mean or median or mode ?Explain with reason.

What has gone unstated is a mapping of Rank to a numerical value. So here I provide such a mapping:
  1. Other
  2. Instructor
  3. Assistant Professor
  4. Associate Professor
  5. Professor
Then it's possible to state the mean rank/teacher, and the median point where half of teachers have a higher/lower rank, as well as the mode of which rank contains the most teachers.
