I am a college student finishing up a Master's degree in Applied Geography with focus on Geographic Information Science.

I am interested in geospatial analysis of crime, and my Directed Research project/ thesis is a study of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, also known as CPTED.

CPTED is a theory within environmental criminology that proposes that characteristics of the built environment have an influence on the level of crime that occurs.

Specifically, I am exploring to see if there is a relationship between CPTED characteristics in the built environment, and the level of crime in those areas. My hypothesis is that areas with many CPTED characteristics will have fewer incidents of crime, and vise-versa.

I will eventually post a question or two regarding this research. But for now, I wanted to introduce myself and my interests.
