Hey there,
So for my thesis my variables will be emotion X and knowledge of emotion x. We will look at a questionnaire that will measure students' emotion X now and from two years ago from the same questionnaire with the same students. Just a post latent test.

I have then developed a measurement tool to measure the KNOWLEDGE of emotion x. What statistical analysis would you run to figure out if knowledge of emotion x is positively correlated with personal emotion x?

And how do I test my measurement scale properly?

Does your questionnaire intend to measure different aspects of emotion? Or is it bundled into one latent variable? You could look into principal component analysis and Cronbach's alpha. Cronbach's alpha is somewhat like a multivariate correlation coefficient. There really is no rule set for tests to run. Especially since latent variables are difficult to measure.

How is emotion X measured, nominal, ordinal or interval.
