Homogeneity - Box's M and MANOVA

I have (yet another) stats question! How do I go about testing for Homogeneity of variance-covariance when I plan to do a MANOVA? I've read that Box's M is just too sensitive and should only be used for unequal group sizes.

I have a book that says "If sample sizes are equal, robustness of significance tests is expected; disregard the outcome of Box's M test". So....what's people's views on this? Have you heard anything contradictory to this? Does this sound right? :)
