How to type stats symbols in word

Hey guys, simple question, not directly related to statistics but I am trying to copy this Chi squared equation into word from a pdf but it won't let me so I am now trying to type it out by hand. It's the X then next to it there's a mini 2 over with a mini 1 directly underneath it. I have tried using superscript and subscript but can't get them to be exactly underneath one another. How do I write this out? Does it mean the same thing if the numbers aren't exactly underneath each-other but one slightly to the side?

I have searched for suggestions elsewhere but cannot seem to resolve this. Any advice would be much appreciated :).
